Canon Powershot SD880IS 10MP Digital Camera - A Quick Review

When Canon's SD870IS won for its category last year, it was only inevitable that its next generation, the SD880IS would offer even more while maintaining its competitive starting price. This new version has many upgrades and a few new features.
The SD880IS updated its face detection software, which helps to create better contrast for facial features while avoiding bleaching of color. It comes with the Face Detection Self timer for taking self-portraits or inclusive group photos.
A 3-inch LCD screen offers brighter playback and though the SD880IS remains without a viewfinder, with such a clear display, it almost seems unnecessary anyway. If your needs require a viewfinder, then the SD990IS would be more to your preference, for an extra 100 dollars or so.
In its special scenes mode, the SD880IS has made improvements, like its 'Sunset' and 'ISO 3200' features. Canon bases these modes on their impressive library of photos and they really do add depth, color, and dimension to the pictures.
The 4X zoom feature is an increase from the previous 3.8X, and helps with those close quarter shots, such as in a car or bus. Another improvement is the Motion Detection software that allows you to check on a moving object, lock to focus on it, then take a clear picture of a scene, even while that object continues to move. Previously, the image would be blurred to varying degrees.
Canon continues to improve on its industry standard technology and with the SD880IS, you are certain to take crisp, brilliant, focused pictures to rival many professional photos. For the camera enthusiast, this is a 'must have'.
